A little bit of classic rock is coming to Scarborough Downs later this year. On June 8, Alex Gray, a concert promoter with Waterfront Concert Series announced ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd will be appearing together in concert on Friday, Sept. 7. The concert will be part of the “Music at the Track” concert series. Both bands are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. on June 15. Tickets, which range in price from $95.75 to $55.75, will be available at waterfrontconcerts.com, Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or at Mark’s Music in Brewer.

The concert is the third that has been announced as part of the Music at the Track concert series. The first in the series will take place on Tuesday, July 31. That concert, headlined rappers Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, will also feature Kendrick Lamar, Chiddy Bang, Schoolboy Q and Chevy Woods. The series will pick back up a week and a half later on Friday, August 10, when the Downs property hosts Oxxfest 2012, an all-day concert featuring Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Pop Evil, Emmure, God Forbid, Battle Cross and a side stage with regional bands.

Waterfront Concerts received an approval from the Scarborough Town Council earlier this year to put on up to five concerts at Scarborough Downs. Last year the property hosted a country music concert by Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and Jerrod Niemann.
