Efforts of Primary PTA applauded

To the editor:

As the school year comes to a close, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the Scarborough Primary Parent Teacher Association for its efforts in supporting our primary schools, as well as all the community volunteers and local businesses who supported the various activities throughout the year.

In the spirit of full disclosure, my wife, Jodi Shea, has served on the board of the Primary PTA, most recently as president.

As a result, I see firsthand the amount of time and energy involved in planning and organizing events, soliciting sponsors and coordinating volunteers.

Through it all, I never saw her turn down a request for help and I am very proud of the example of volunteerism and community involvement she sets for our family.

Through a variety of innovative fundraising activities such as the Fall Carnival and the Race 2 the Point 5K road race, Primary PTA raised a significant amount of money to be used to enhance our students’ learning experiences.

Field trips, guest authors, technology investments and teacher allocations are just a few of the many things which were funded through the efforts of the Primary PTA this year and made possible by the donations of time and money by the community.

The PTA has proven it can be counted on within our primary school community to raise funds and promote programs which help to create great environments to teach and learn in.
