Hospice to organize support group

Hospice of Southern Maine will sponsor a daytime bereavement support group for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. The group will meet for eight Thursdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m., beginning Aug. 16 and ending Oct. 4.

The non-denominational group will be held at the West Scarborough United Methodist Church at 2 Church St. in Scarborough (corner of Route 1 and Church Street, near Dunstan Corner). Participants are asked to attend every session.

Carol Schoneberg, director of bereavement services and an experienced support group facilitator, will lead the group. The bereavement support group assists individuals who may be dealing with issues of sadness, grief, depression, anger, guilt or any other related feelings accompanying the death of a loved one. This is not a therapy group, but rather a support group where individuals can share their feelings and experiences in a caring and safe environment.

The closed eight-week session is limited to 12 participants and is offered at no charge.
