Outgoing town councilor will be missed for her advocacy

To the editor:

We’d like to commend Karen D’Andrea for her dedicated service to the town of Scarborough. As a town councilor she championed initiatives that have contributed to a better quality of life in our town. She was instrumental in passing the smoking ban on the beaches and the organic lawn maintenance on town properties and she made a strong effort to ban fireworks in Scarborough.

D’Andrea committed many hours to her work as councilor, was responsive to citizens’ concerns and worked to hold the council to a higher standard. We know we speak for many others in appreciation and gratitude. She’s an environmentalist and a strong advocate. She’ll be hard to replace. We hope that others, inspired by D’Andrea’s example, will step forward to run for town council. Susan DeWitt Wilder, Paul W. Austin Scarborough
