Scarborough Garden Club monthly meeting, 12:30 p.m., Hillcrest Community Center, 108 Hillcrest Ave. Guest speaker: Lisa Colburn, author of “The Maine Garden Journal.” Guests and new members always welcome. Saturday, Oct. 19

Masonic open house, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Governor William King Lodge No. 219, 649 Route 1, Scarborough. Maine Masonic Lodges will open their doors to the public on Saturday, Oct. 19 as part of Square and Compasses Day, a statewide celebration of Freemasonry. The Masons of Governor William King Lodge invite the public to see how the lodge has benefited the community by supporting various efforts in town such as youth activities and Toys for Tots. Members will provide tours of the building, talk about Freemasonry’s history, discuss its rituals, signs and symbols, and explain what they do. FMI, call Scott Whytock at 358-3110.
