Robbie Foundation fundraising gala was a success

To the editor:

The Robbie Foundation wants to heartfully thank the dozens of businesses, community members and volunteers who helped make the second annual Robbie Foundation Gala an amazing success.

The event was held Sept. 18 at the Black Point Inn in Scarborough.

The gala drew more than 100 people and raised $15,000 for children with special needs and youth with developmental disabilities in Maine.

The highlight of the evening included a silent auction featuring numerous items from Maine businesses and a comedic performance from Juston McKinney, a former York County sheriff’s deputy turned comedian.

Over the past three years, the Scarboroughbased nonprofit has raised nearly $100,000 through various events in the community.

The money is used to purchase much needed adaptive equipment, therapy treatments, assistive technology and other services that are not covered by insurance.

Thanks to the generousity of our numerous sponsors, the Robbie Foundation is continuing to improve the lives of these very special children.

The Robbie Foundation would like to thank gala sponsors including, Black Bear Medical of Portland, Walgreen’s of Maine and New Hampshire along with the company’s district manager, Greg Paramantigis.

Other supporters are Southern Maine Pediatric Dentistry, Saco & Biddeford Savings, Martin’s Point HealthCare, Angelo at the Gorham House of Pizza, Nappi Distributors and Southern Maine Health Medical Center.

Also a big thanks to the evening’s emcee, Jackie Ward of WCSH and Jim Greatorex the owner of Black Bear Medical who served as the event’s auctioneer.
