Audubon Center needs volunteers

Maine Audubon’s Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center needs volunteers age 14 and older. The Scarborough Marsh Audubon is open for the weekends and opened seven days a week starting June 14. It hosts canoe tours every day at 10 a.m. Starting June 18, it has bird walks on Wednesday mornings at 7 a.m., a family marsh walk on Wednesdays and many special tours for children and families.

Volunteers are needed through Labor Day, whether a few hours or a day a week.

Jobs include helping in the store, handling canoe rentals and leading nature programs. The center also has special citizen science projects, including bird monitoring and a Biodiversity Day, where all insects and plants of the marsh are documented.

Help is needed to do some special projects around the center such as carpentry and painting. Marketing and computer skills are always appreciated.

No experience is needed, just a love of nature and a desire to share it with others. Training is provided. Volunteers are needed seven days a week. In-depth internships also are available.
