Running for vets



Joyce Sweeney of Steep Falls leads the pack of runners from the start line during Sunday’s Maine Vets 5K in Scarborough. Sweeney placed 16th overall in a field of 402 with a time of 22 minutes, 30 seconds. Proceeds from the event benefit the activities fund for the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough. Matthew Pooler of North Waterboro took top honors in 19:38. Tops among women was Megan Randall of Scarborough. Randall was fifth overall in 20:37.
