School committee assignments doled out

By Michael Kelley Staff Writer

With the new members of the Scarborough Board of Education sworn in and a new leadership team appointed with Donna Beeley as chairman and Jodi Shea as vice chairman, committee assignments were handed out last week.

Shea has served as vice chairman since November 2016. Beeley previously served as chairman from November 2014 to November 2016.

Shea will once again lead the board’s finance committee and will be joined this next year by Cari Lyford and Leanne Kazilionis. The negotiations committee will include Beeley and Mary Starr and again be led by Jackie Perry. Lyford will head the outreach and communications task team, which will have Shea and Hillory Durgin as members.

Starr will take over the post of policy committee chairman from Beeley and will be joined by Durgin and Kazilionis. Lyford and Durgin will team up for the Pre-K Task Force and Kazilionis and Lyford will be part of the district’s school start time implementation committee.

Starr will be the board’s liaison for long range facilities planning, while Perry will be the legislative liaison, Durgin the teacher evaluation liaison and Beeley the vocation liaison. Shea will be the board’s connection to the Health, Safety and Security Advisory Team and Kazilionis is the board’s connection to the Scarborough Education and Business Council.
