Summer Events

Daily Canoeing and Kayaking

Canoe/Kayak Rentals

Discover the meandering Dunstan River on self-guided exploration. Center will provide a canoe/kayak, map and life jackets.

When: Daily, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Cost: $20/hour; $28/1.5 hours; $35/2 hours

($45 maximum; Discounts on Fridays)

Guided Canoe Tours

Discover wildlife and plants paddling along the Dunstan River. See the Snowy Egret catching fish and the Cormorant drying its wings.

June 16 - Sept. 3, 10 - 11:30 a.m.

$13/adult, $10/child (deduct $1.50 with own canoe).

Full Moon Canoe Tours

Experience the sights and sounds of the marsh creatures at night under the full moon.

July 25, 26 and 27, 7:30 - 9 p.m.

Aug. 24, 25, and 26, 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Early Morning Canoe Tour

Tour the marsh at this magical time when animals wake up and start to explore.

Aug. 4, 6:30 - 8 a.m.

Sunset Canoe Tour

Enjoy the sunset while paddling the marsh. Observe herons and shorebirds flying to their roosts.

Nature Sketching by Canoe

Guided canoe tour will give artists of all ages a unique opportunity to practice nature sketching. Aug. 11, 2 - 3:30 p.m. $13/person

Kayak Tour

Discover the wildlife and plants of Scarborough Marsh during this guided tour down the Dunstan River.

July 21 and Aug. 11, 1 - 2:30 p.m.

$13/person (Deduct $1.50 if bringing own kayak)

Early Morning Bird Walks

The best birding is often in the early morning. Look and listen for egrets, glossy ibis, herons, willets, sparrows and more.

Family Nature Walk

Mummichugs and Marsh Muck

Explore the plants and animals of the marsh through hands-on discovery.

Collect data that will be analyzed to determine the health of the marsh.

Bird Monitoring

Join us for a marsh-wide bird survey.

Volunteer Opportunity

• Sharp-tailed Sparrow Workshop and Field Trip

• Maine Audubon naturalist Doug Hitchcox will help to unravel the complexities of Sharp-tailed Sparrow identification. Look at photos before going out for a field trip.
