Service of lessons and carols scheduled

A traditional Service of Lessons and Carols for Epiphany will be held at St. Augustine Anglican Church on Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. St. Augustine’s is located at 656 Route 1 in Scarborough. The service will include traditional hymns and carols sung by all and will be followed by a service of holy communion.

All are welcome to join in this telling of the birth of Christ and the singing of familiar Christmas music.

The readings are interspersed with the congregational singing of hymns. The format of the service originated in England in 1918 at King’s College, Cambridge and began a tradition that is now 100 years old. This service has been adapted by many churches all over the world as part of holiday worship.

The parish is led by Pastor Michael McKinnon.
